Carefree accommodation in the Citè
STRUCTURAL CONCEPT & IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY with operator concept
Location Göttelborn, Saarland (DT)
Research project initiated by BAUHAUS University Weimar - "European Urban Studies", part of the research team headed by Prof. Wolfgang Christ
URBAN MINING - CONCEPT:
Subsequent use of mining sites using Göttelborn as an example.
VISION:
CITÉ OF INDUSTRIAL CULTURE of the Saarland.
STRATEGY:
The existing spatial, structural, landscape and "symbolic" resources of the working world of the industrial age are used and reinterpreted. Spaces are made into boxes with metal parts stored on site for temporary living/working, suspended from the former conveyor belt and offered for rent. The coal mine is both a stage and an event venue as a basis for revitalising the area with creative potential.
